Prepping for your senior portrait session
It’s senior portrait season! As you embark on this exciting new chapter in your life after graduation, take a moment to reflect on all the wonderful memories and experiences that have shaped you into the person you are today. A senior portrait session is a great way to commemorate this special time of your achievements.
If you’re scheduling your senior portrait session, here a few tips to help you be prepared, confident, and ready for the camera!
Consider Session Time and Location
If you’re working with me as your senior photographer, I have a list of locations I recommend and we will most likely shoot at golden hour (the hour before sunset).
Preparing Your Wardrobe
You can plan to bring 2-3 outfits to include casual, semi-formal, and formal options.
Casual: Comfortable, everyday wear.
Semi-Formal: Smart casual, such as a nice shirt or blouse with pants or a skirt. Cap and gown attire can be added here, too.
Formal: Dresses, suits, or other dressy attire.
Wardrobe Colors
Opt for solid colors or subtle patterns that won’t be distracting from your face. Avoid overly bright colors that can reflect onto your face as well.
Wardrobe Comfort
Plan to wear something you feel comfortable and confident in. Plus we may need to do a little bit of walking based on your location. If a formal outfit isn’t your style, no worries!
Wardrobe Accessories
If you have a sentimental piece of jewelry, etc. senior photos can be a great way to document and remember them.
Self Care Tips
Follow your routine skincare leading up to the session and avoid trying new products that may cause a reaction.
Stay hydrated before your session for glowing skin
Get a good night’s sleep
Finally, don’t overthink it! I understand getting in front of the camera can be nerve racking for some, but don’t worry! We will make it a positive and relaxing experience. This is an exciting time in your life and you deserve to have some photos of you looking your best to commemorate your accomplishments!
See you at your session!
